This morning was rough!!!  Both of my boys have always been and are still pretty good sleepers.  They have their nights where they aren't too.  Well this morning was Ryan's!  He woke up at 4am and didn't go back to sleep until almost 6am.  We bounced from his bed to mine and I was one crabby Mommy!!!  I am not good at co-sleeping, I love my space!  So when either one of the boys is in our bed or vice versa, I don't sleep.  So my mind kept racing.  Then I heard Jim getting ready for work, then I heard him leave, had to turn on the fan for white noise...you get the idea.

My breakfast the past few days.  Two baked eggs, double fiber english muffin and WW  cheese wedge.

I did not want to go to the gym.  I wanted to take Zack to school and come home and sleep!  Instead, I got my workout clothes on and headed to the gym after drop off.  I started with the elliptical and did 38 min.  I did 5 min (and 50 calories) then tried to pause the machine while I fixed the blinds on the window but it didn't pause so I had to restart my workout.

I couldn't decide what to do next so I did the bike for 20 minutes on the manual setting.

Since I was suffering from lack of sleep I decided to get the Energizer smoothie to see if it would help.  It was pretty darn good but I haven't seen a boost in energy yet.  :/
I was really trying to aim for M-F workouts.  However, I forgot that I have a facial scheduled for tomorrow morning so I'll miss tomorrow.  I am kind of bummed but proud of myself for going 4 days in a row this week!!!  Next week I have a hair appt on Wed so I might do M,T,Th, F.

Now I seriously might try to take a nap!

I made it to the gym for the third day in a row.  Bam!  However, I'm feeling it now!  My legs are sore and I don't want to move!!!

I started out with the elliptical again and did the weight loss work out for 33 min.

I decided to skip the stair machine and opted to run a bit on the treadmill.  My legs were stiff as a board and I didn't have the stamina that I wanted.  I had to repeat to myself that I could do it, I am blessed with legs that work...use them!  I did 25 min with an average pace of 3.6 and I did more walking than running but that's ok.
I then did the krank machine for 10 minutes and seem to be getting the hang of it a bit more.

Now I'm home and want to take a nap!  I'm planning on hitting the gym tomorrow and Friday too.  Then I will for sure be taking Saturday and Sunday off!!

Shark week has arrived and hopefully all this cardio will keep the pounds off this week.

Say what?!

We didn't have anything planned today so I decided to head to the gym again today.  Say what?!?!!?

I did the weight loss program on the elliptical for 33 minutes.

Then I decided to tackle the stairmaster machine again.  Today I did 14 minutes!  I even side stepped like I have seen others do, it was fun.  It says I did 35 floors but my fitbit doesn't reflect that (hmm?!)  I went at 40 steps/min again because that's what I'm comfortable with right now.  Burning 100 calories in 14 min, not too bad!  I felt every single one.  I was a hot sweaty mess after doing both machines, holy cow!

Like yesterday, I moved on to the krankcycle machine.  I watched some videos online about it and felt more confident when using it today.  I did a total of 10 minutes on it, alternating one arm to both arms.  I then switched it around and kranked backwards.  

It felt great getting to the gym on a day I don't normally go.  I thought of going M-F this week since we don't have any plans.  Wonder if I could do it?!

New machines

I started today's workout with 35 min on the Elliptical doing the intervals again.

I was going to do the bike again but all of them were taken.  So I decided to try the stairmaster machine!  I've been wanting to try it for a while but have been too nervous that I would fall off!  Well, I didn't fall off but I only did 10 min because it kept making a weird clunking noise and felt like it was going to break.  I was not about to have it break while I was on it!!  I did 41 steps/min (I think).  It was slow but I definitely got a work out, phew!  It said I only burned 91.5 calories but it felt like a lot more!!!
Since I didn't get a very long workout in and my arms were feeling a little neglected, I decided to try krankcycle machine.  I thought this one was similar to the one I used to do at PT but this is much different.  I did 8 min on it and my arms felt like jello!  I kinda liked it!

I started with the elliptical and killed all 35 minutes of my workout.  I kept my SPM up over 130 almost the entire time and even saw 150 a few times!  I was preoccupied and when I was finished I forgot to look at my distance so I have no idea how far I went.  Grr

I got on the bike and did 25 more min.  I don't know if I sweat more today or if you could just see it more because I was in a lighter color shirt.  It felt good though and now I'm all set to go out for date night and meet friends for beers.  We're trying out a new brewery in town and we're pretty stoked.  Happy Friday!

I make pillow case dresses and this lady is making a killing off of them because she went on Shark Tank.  Why didn't I think of that?!


So, I weighed myself this afternoon after lunch and weighed in at 234.2 lbs.  Originally when I weighed this morning that's the number I saw.  Then I weighed myself several more times and saw the 235.2, yes I have a problem with weighing myself over and over to make sure I have the right weight.  So I was thrown off when I saw the 234.2 again.  Which one should I go with?!

I stepped on the scale as soon as I woke up, anxious to see if the number went down.  Thankfully it did, 235 (-1.2)  I'll take it!!

Off to the gym this morning then the boys are staying at my parents house for the night.  Jim and I are going on a date night.  He's leaving for Seattle to visit his uncle bright and early on Saturday so before my baby shower I might try to make it to the gym to burn off the beer that I'll be drinking tonight.  ha!

Changing it up

Found this on Pinterest and loved it!

Monday was no school for Z and our friends asked us to join them for a playdate and lunch.  I had planned on going to the gym on Tuesday (being flexible with myself).  Well then Ryan ended up catching the hubby's cold so we never made it to the gym on Tuesday either.  I didn't want to but put on some workout clothes and pulled out the kettle bells yesterday instead.  I started out with my Jillian.Michaels DVD but it was all scratched up and kept skipping.  So I found a youtube video that I followed along (and forgot to copy the link).  I did 25 min and have no idea how many calories I burned.  My legs were immediately sore!

Today I woke up and could feel every muscle I worked!  My legs, back muscles and arms were all sore but in a good way.  Ryan didn't have a runny nose today so we went to the gym.  I did 36 min on the elliptical and then switched to something new...the bike and did 25 min.  The bike gave me more of a workout than I was expecting but boy was my butt almost numb towards the end.  It felt good to change it up a bit.



I found out I can link my fitbit to mapmyrun.  However, I don't like it and can't switch it back.  I like to see the days that I worked out.  When I sync it it adds all miles walked for everyday, which includes my workouts.  Grr!  Sometimes technology is great other times, I hate it.  :)

A gain?!

I weighed in on Thursday and then again on Friday, hoping to see a different number.  Nope!  I was disappointed and mad to see 236.2 lbs.  WTF?!  I've been consistently working out at least 3 days a week since the beginning of December, actually started back working out in November.  The last three weeks I've been focusing on what I'm eating and with portion control.  I don't get it!  I am about to throw in the towel but I haven't.

 I got in another nice 5k this morning, even had company for a while!  The sun was out but it was a bit chilly, a great day for a run!  I did the 2 min run (a few times even did 3 min) and walk 1 min.  My legs are now killing me.

I'm at a loss as to what I should do next.  Any suggestions?  Any readers still out there?!

Busy place

I spotted FIVE people I knew at the gym on Monday, five!  Then today there were three people I knew.  I'm not sure if it's the new year resolutions or what but it's been busy!

The sun came out today and it was beautiful!!!  I debated on going for a run outside after we ate lunch but a certain little 2.5 year old was in dire need of a nap instead.

I did the intervals again today on the elliptical.  It seemed a bit more tough but I powered through it.  I burned less calories somehow too, maybe because I wasn't going as fast and hard.  Not sure?!

I've been meaning to take my measurements for over a month now.  So, I took them today and I'm not too impressed.  I did them quickly with these clothes on:
Neck - 15.25
R arm - 15
bust - 46.5
band - 41
waist - 45
hips - 54.5
R thigh - 30.5

These are close to my measurements in Aug 2011.  WTH?!  I have been doing a consistent workout routine for over a month now and watching my portions and foods.  Why haven't they gone down more?  Don't get me wrong, I'll take what I can get but if I'm sore so much why doesn't it show?!  Hopefully it will reflect on the scale tomorrow.  Wish me luck!

Hope Run 5k

I had this great post written up and went to add another picture and it deleted over half of my post.  Grrrr!!!!
I've been searching for a race that benefits childhood cancer so I could do it in honor of my cousin, Nolan.  Then I remembered the one last year that I wasn't able to attend because it was the same day as Ryan's birthday party.  So on Saturday, I registered for the Hope Run 5k!  I put a shout out on Facebook and InstaGram and have about 5 people that are doing it with me, I'm hoping that some more friends and family will join me by April! It benefits the American Childhood Cancer Organization and although it benefits the kids in the Northwest (not Nolan) I still feel it will help and is a great way to honor him.

I'm not sure if I've shared his story here or not.  Nolan is my 16 year old cousin who lives in Nebraska (He's actually my 2nd cousin, I am cousins with his mom).  January 2012 he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma.  In 9 months he did 18 chemo treatments and 5 surgeries (2 that consisted of a full knee replacement and a steel rod in replace of his femur).  The kid is tough!!!  In September he celebrated his final chemo treatment and the staff at the hospital threw him a party.  He went back in for his 3 month check up last month and got heartbreaking news.  They found a spot in his lung that wasn't there before.  They did surgery a couple weeks ago to remove it.  Unfortunately the biopsy came back with bad news, it was cancer.  Nolan has remained incredibly strong through all of this, I'm not sure how he does it.  Currently they are in Hawaii enjoying some family time, compliments of the Make a Wish Foundation.  When they get back I'm assuming they'll figure out a plan of action for his treaments.

Nolan has touched many lives in his short 16 years of life!  The outpouring of support that he has received is absolutely amazing!!  He was even trending on twitter (#teamzeke) and received shout outs from celebrities. The news did several stories on him too.  Nolan may have lost his hair (which is back now but the boys always picture him with no hair like when we saw him this summer), his right knee and femur but the one thing he hasn't lost is his beautiful smile.  He is an absolute inspiration to me and I can't wait to run this race in his honor!!!

I chose the intervals setting on the elliptical this morning. It did 1 min intervals and much to my surprise I could really (and still can) feel it in my legs. I focused on 130+ SPM and 120 on the cool down.

My legs are super sore! I think it's from Saturdays run and today but its a good feeling.

Last night I made a molten lava cake for us thinking all the boys would like it. However, I guess I'm the only one thy likes spice cake. So I ate a piece and then threw the rest away! NSV right there!

Impromptu 5k!

The boys (all three of them) went to in in-law's house to help them out so I got a day to myself!  I woke up with a stomach ache, probably from all the crap food I ate last night!  So I had a slow start to the day.  I started looking for virtual races because I'd love to do a 5k each month and didn't have one for this month yet.  Now, I've been doing at least 3 miles on the elliptical or treadmill 3 times a week but I like to do the 5k for awareness or in honor of someone/something.  I came across the same virtual run I did last year but forgot all about it.  I turned the Run for Sherry into my virtual 5k for this month and it worked great!  The weather was chilly but the sun was in and out so I decided to skip the gym and just run around the neighborhood.

It felt to get outside again.  I felt a little rusty and could feel a difference in my knees but it wasn't too bad.  I did a run/walk routine for the 3.11 miles.  I ran 2 minutes and walked 1 minute and it seemed to break it up a bit.  I was impressed to hear that it only took me 12:46 min to do the first mile!!!  I slowed down for the other two miles though.

Happy Friday

For breakfast I had some greek yogurt, strawberries and a little granola.  It was delicious!  However, once I got to the gym I don't think my stomach liked it.  I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to workout but thankfully was able to.

I found intervals for the elliptical on Pinterest (love Pinterest!) and decided to give one a shot this morning. I chose the booty one just because it was the first and let's be honest, my booty could use some help! I liked it but had a hard time doing the 15 incline with 11 resistance. I only lasted 1.5 min before I scaled it down a bit to 12 and 8. It was a good workout and went by really quick!

After the gym we headed to shop.ko to get some new capris. Two of my pairs are getting holes in the chub rub area and its a little embarrassing doing the inner and outer thigh machines.  I found a pair that I really like.  Next thing I want to buy is a good sports bra or two.  Mine are horrible. 

On our way to pick up Z from the bus stop a friend asked if we wanted to join them at Burger.King for lunch and to let the boys burn some energy.  I did awesome and was so proud!  I looked up calories before ordering and chose a bacon burger (was supposed to be a bacon cheeseburger but they messed up) and a value onion ring.  I wanted something to drink other than water so I had Diet.Coke.  I hate diet sodas, the only reason I drank it was because it was zero calories.  I was proud of my self control while sitting there for three hours!

Then the hubs came home and all self control went out the window.  We went to dinner at at diner nearby and I had a chicken sandwich and fries. I was trying to be good but also knew I had about 1000 calories left for the day, so I ordered more than just a salad.  R was so exhausted that he slept through dinner.  ha!
We ended up getting free tickets to see Identity Thief.  Funny movie!  Then we went to have some beers with the BIL and his fiance.  I had a few beers and then we ordered appetizers.  Gah!  My stomach is not feeling so great right now, probably from the crap food!!  Blech...

Tomorrow night I'm going out with some friends that I used to work with and can't wait!

A loss!

This girl is smiling because I saw a loss on the scale this morning!!! Yep, -1.2 lbs! I know it wasn't just because of my workout yesterday, probably more because shark week is over but I'll take it! It feels good o have a loss and keeps me that more motivated! (Also thought it would be nice to post a pic of me not sweaty and with makeup on. LOL)

Has anyone ever heard of dietbet.com? I'm thinking about joining one but am also nervous about losing my money. Will the winning pot be enough on keep me motivated? Anyone want to try one with me??
