Feeling lighter!

I got over 10 inches taken off the back, I'm curious about how much it all weighed.  It is SHORT!  It was a shocker, that's for sure and I'm still getting used to it but I really like it.  It's kinda fun!

I usually don't like the way that my hair dresser styles my hair.  It looks ok right now but I can't wait to play with it tomorrow and add some voluem.  I'm not sure if it makes me look any bigger or thinner yet but my hair dresser said that I look younger.  :)  I'll take some more pictures when I get home or tomorrow when I style it.  One thing is for sure, no more ponytails.  *sniff*

This and that

I'm going to be honest, I hate running on the treadmill!  I want Spring to arrive so the boys and I can head outside!  I had set a schedule for myself to run MWF on the treadmill working up to a 5k.  But I haven't made the time or put the effort in to do it.  Yesterday I could have but chose not to because my house was in desperate need of my attention.  The sun was out, it was beautiful and it gave me energy.  So during Ryan's naptime I spend the whole 2.5 hours cleaning my house.  It's amazing how much dirt, food, grimy finger prints you can see when the sun shines!  By the end of the day I burned 2850 calories.  I burned 475 just taking Ryan to the laundromat (our washer is broken-repair man is on his way) and doing 3 large loads of laundry then going to the fabric store before picking up Zack from school.  Then I burned roughly 418 calories cleaning the house during Ryan's nap.

I found two races that I am thinking of signing up for.  The first is a St. Patty's Five.  It's a 5 mile course near a local community college.  I've never done it before but my friend Lyndsey might do it with me.  The other one was in April but I just realized that it's the weekend before Race for the Cure.  I'm not sure that I want to have two back to back.  It was to raise money for cancer but that's also what Race for the Cure is doing so I think I'll just stick to that one.  So I'm still on the search for more, ideally I'd like to do one a month.

I have a haircut in a few hours.  I'm going shorter and a bit nervous.  I've kind of hid behind my long hair because I think it makes me look thinner.  I'm afraid if I cut it then I'll look like beetlejuice (small head with big body) and heavier.  But I'm ready for a change now.  My hair dresser is great and if I don't like it then it's just hair and it will grow back, right?!  Wish me luck!

Weekly weigh in

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 223.2 (02.10.12)
This Week: 223.2
Weekly Loss: 0
Total Loss: –13.8

Phew!  I was a bit worried when I stepped on the scale the other morning and saw 225!  I am ok with my numbers today. Yesterday we were out an about pretty much all day.  Even with doing an hour of Zum.ba (burning 613 calories) I still only had a calorie deficit of 200 because I had 2 fast food meals.  Today will be better!

Lent

I am going to try and be good this Lent season and not eat meat on Fridays.  A while ago I picked up these single servings of Tilapia fillets at Albertson's.  I had never had Tilapia before so I was going out on a limb.  So tonight I decided to bake them in the oven and put a little Johnny's seasoning on them.  A serving was 80 calories and I ate it with a baked potato with light sour cream and Johnny's.  It was yummy!!  I think I could double or triple the fish though, it wasn't quite enough.  What do you eat for your meals during Lent?

Slacker

***I posted this this morning on my boys' blog!!!  I didn't even know it until a friend, who maybe weighs 130 lbs posted a comment!  Eeek!!!  I don't publicize this blog to all of my friends or family.  I about died when I saw Jolene commented!!!***

The hubby left for work this morning at 4:30am.  (Thankfully his brother took him to the airport so I didn’t have to wake the boys up.)  That means that I can get back on track.  I slacked off while he was home this time and I can feel it AND regret it!  I didn’t even attempt to do my food journal.  I pretty much just gave up.  I stepped on the scale this morning and saw 225!!!!  Gah!  (I didn’t weigh in on Friday because we were busy and I forgot)
Even MapyMyRun knows it since I woke up to this email this morning.  Eek!

I wanted to do Zum.ba on Valentine’s Day but opted to hang out with the hubs and kiddos instead, eating at a Mexican restaurant.  Then on Thur I had every intention of going but the two bottles of wine the night before got the best of me….all day!  We are in the search for a travel trailer.  We drove all over the area, almost every day looking at 100s of trailers.  This means that I had less activity than normal and at least one meal was eaten out a day.  We had a date night and went to Olive Garden (yum!) but I did get some activity in when we went bowling afterwards.  I haven’t uploaded my stats from my BodyBugg but I know I was lacking calories burned the majority of the time he was home.
Last night I went to Zum.ba and it felt great!  Also, starting this morning, I am back to tracking as well as restarting my Isa.genix shakes for breakfast.  I’ve contemplated doing a cleanse too.  Lately (not just while Jim’s been home) I have not felt up to par.  I have been overly tired and just feel blah.  Our Zum.ba instructor did the Isa.genix 30 day cleanse as well as a good friend and they both had great results and said they felt amazing!  It will all depend on the cost though.

Valentine's Day

and that he did!
He knew I've wanted a mother's ring so him and Zack went to the mall and came home to surprise me with this.  I love it and want to wear it but won't be able to for a week or so since it's getting sized.

Hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh yes I did!

Guess what I ordered for Zumba?!  Yep, a Zebra print belly skirt!   You see, with three males in my house I rarely get anything “girly”.  So when my mom told me about this skirt, I knew I had to have it (and so did she).

I can’t wait to get it!!!

In honor of a fellow runner

Even though I didn’t feel like it at all, I ran (but mostly walked) in honor of a fellow runner.  I do not know her personally but heard about her and her story on facebook.  Please read Sherry’s story, so so sad and could really happen to any of us.  I did 2 miles on the treadmill and ran about 1/2 mile then power walked the rest with hand weights.  Zack came down and joined me for the last half of it or so, I decided to put him to use and take some pictures.

The last two minutes for my cool down I walked backwards.  I seriously love doing this, feels great!

Horrible picture!  Notice my new shoes though?!  Yep!  Got them at Costco and tried them out for the first time today.  Still not sure if I like them or if they’re too big but even though I ran on the treadmill I had to coordinate with my outfit!

Weekly Weigh In

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 222.2
This Week: 223.2
Weekly Loss: +1
Total Loss: –13.8

GAH!!  I am beyond frustrated and about ready to throw in the towel.  I’m not looking for compliments or pick me ups, just being honest with you.  I entered my weight into my bodybugg program and this is what I saw

image

I’m supposed to be down almost 5 lbs and am only down .8 lbs.  WTH?!  I didn’t journal on Friday because it was a crazy busy day nor did I journal on Sunday because it was Super Bowl and decided not to.  However, the other 5 days I did journal and had an average calorie deficit for those days of 900 or so.  I can’t imagine that those two days of not journaling would screw that up?!  If my average was 900 then I should’ve had almost a 2 lb weight loss.  Grrr!  I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do different.  My mom suggested removing sugar and flour from my diet but I know I can’t do it so why set myself up for failure?!  any other suggestions?!  I would greatly appreciate them!!!

I came across this blog post as I was having a pity party, thank you for the inspiration Kimberlynn!

Scratch that

So I had said that I’m going to continue my jogs on MWF and work up to 3 miles.  Wellll, I am going to have to start next week.  ugh!  On Monday I had full intentions of jogging but didn’t feel well after dropping Zack off at school.  I was extremely tired and started getting chills.  So during Ryan’s nap I opted to take a much needed 2 hour nap instead of jogging.  I started to feel much better by their bedtime.  Yesterday we were at a friend’s house from noon until almost 6pm so I missed my jog.  I thought about doing it after the boys went to bed but chose to fold the 4 baskets of laundry that were taking over our bedroom floor.  (When Zack came into my room this morning he said, “Mommy, you cleaned your room…looks like nice!”  Probably a good thing I folded laundry before the hubs gets home on Sunday!)  I still intended to do my jog tomorrow and will officially start next week.

Fuego

Fuego this morning was uh-mazing!!!  Instead of one hour of Z.umba followed by an hour of Z.umba toning they decided to change it up.  We did 2 Z.umba songs then two toning songs for the full 2 hours.  I think I would’ve died if we did it the first way.  It was so much fun!  There were probably 80 people or so, 4 of which were men.  You could feel the excitement in the air and our instructors were great.  I burned just under 1200 calories and it felt great.  I wish that I could do it everyday!  Our instructor said that she doesn’t think they’ll do another one which is a bummer.  But she said that she might incorporate toning into a class at least once a month.  Sweet!!

Wanted to take this picture for future reference.  Don’t mind the nasty hair and lack of make up.

National Wear Red Day

Did you know that heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined?

Are you wearing your Red today?!  I was, along with my Go Red pin.

Weekly Weigh In

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 222.2
This Week: 222.2
Weekly Loss: –0
Total Loss: –14.8

It’s shark week so I’m ok with maintenance because I’d like to think that if it wasn’t then I’d have a loss.  So I’m hoping with Fuego on Sat, jogs on MWF and Z.umba on Thur (and possibly Tues) that I will have a big loss next week?!

Happy weekend to you all!

FUEGO

My niece told me that her and her friend will watch the boys so I could attend Fuego on Saturday.  I am sooo excited!  I wasn’t able to attend the one in January even though I really wanted to, darn child care.  Looking forward to tomorrow morning.

On another Z.umba note…I used my mom’s toning sticks for all but the cool down song last night.  It felt great!  I’ve been using hand weights while jogging too.  I can honestly say that I’m starting to see results in my arms because of it.  Now, wish I could say the same for my stomach.  Beggars can’t be choosers, right?!

hip pain

For a while now I’ve had problems with my left hip hurting.  I have a hard time putting my pants on or even tying my shoes.  I stretched it out really good yesterday after my treadmill run and by bedtime I could barely lift my leg while sitting.  If it doesn’t get better soon I’m going to have it looked at.  Grrr

Looking back and stepping it up

I was updating my Progress Page and realized just how depressing my weight loss from Oct to Jan has been.  Basically, I gained 2.2 pounds and that is NOT ok!  I usually map all workouts in MapMyRun so I quickly added the miles, hours and workouts for each month to my progress page.  I can now see why I gained…not much activity!  I may have missed a few workouts and didn’t start logging calories until I got my bodybugg, obviously.  But it just goes to show that being lazy doesn’t help!

image

I’m not sure what the percentages are or how to change them in the Stats column.  Here was my activity for January.  It got a little better and what do you know, I lost!

image

The months I lost the most is when I was doing the C25K.  So I think I might work up to an actual 5k, not just do it by time.  The last two workouts I have done just over 2 miles, including my warm up and cool down.  My plan is to increase my distance by 1/4 mile each week, not worrying about time right now.  So this week I’m doing 2 miles and next week I’ll do 2.25 and so on.  I’ll continue to do my runs on MWF so I have the rest days which one will be Zumba.

I’m hoping that this and the calorie counting will help get my butt in gear.  I’ve been looking at that next goal, only 10%, 213 lbs for WAY too long.  It’s been SEVEN months since I hit my 5% goal.

Any other suggestions I may have missed or not considered?  I’d love to hear your feedback!
