I'm thankful for a loss!  The hubs leaves on Tuesday for work so I'm hoping next week will be a bigger loss.  I did Zumba on both Tues and Thur, a friend even joined me on Tues!  My shins are killing me so I scaled back on some of the jumping parts.  I hate them anyway with my chest size but I try to do most of it to increase my cardio.  I thought about getting a run in this morning but wasn't able to.  I thought my in laws were going to be here at 9am so Jim could work on their truck and I didn't want to be all sweaty or in the shower while they were here.  Turns out they didn't come until lunch time so I could've gone.  oh well, maybe tomorrow....weather permitting!

I returned my bras that I bought.  I honestly think they were too big and on one the under wire was poking me in the arm, not cool. I tried on a million at Kohl's but didn't fall in love with any.  So I have the cash saved and will try somewhere else again. Grrr!!!  I wish I could make my own!

We're going out tomorrow night.  My mom is going to come stay the night to be with the boys.  We're going to sing karaoke and the place we're going to has a buffet at midnight as well as champagne.  I'm not counting calories that day and hope to have a few drinks! 

I'm thinking of making some goals for 2012.  I want them attainable but not too easy and not too hard.  What are your goals for the new year?!

Bra shopping and Zpack

Yesterday I got to sneak away and do some bra shopping.  What a nightmare!!  My two current bras are not fitting anymore so it was a much needed trip.  I tried on what I thought was my size, thinking I’d have to go smaller (since my chest is the first place I lose the weight).  Nothing was fitting so I had a specialist (?) measure me.  I was shocked to find out that I am actually two sizes bigger?!  I was shocked!  She brought me a handful of bras to try on and found two that I thought I liked.  I tried d to find a few more like them so I had a few but apparently my size is not a popular one?!  I’ve worn one today and I think it’s too big, I don’t feel any support and the underwires are digging into my arms.  I’m so frustrated!  Why must it be so difficult?!

I also caved and made an appointment to see the doctor today.  I have had a cold (or whatever) for off and on for probably 2 months.  I’m constantly hacking things up and I’m not a smoker!  My energy level has been next to nothing the past few days.  He said that there is definitely congestion in my lungs and put me on the Zpack.  I’m looking forward to feeling back to normal!

Christmas wrap up

I drank way too many glasses of wine and hot buttered Rums on Christmas Eve.  I also had 3 bowls of my dad's Texas chilli.  But I think I got rid of it all on Christmas Day.  Right after the boys finished opening their gifts I got sick and spent the rest of the day in and out of the bathroom, puking and other stuff.  ;)  Zack had been sick on Thursday so it was only a matter of time before I caught the bug.  I couldn't keep anything down until at 5pm and 10pm I had a cup o noodles, which stayed down.  Jim took the boys to his parents house so they could enjoy Christmas and so that I could sleep and get better.  It sucked though!  I hated being home on Christmas sick and without my family.

Zumba x 2

My mom couldn’t make it to Zumba tonight so she offered to watch the boys at her house.  I was able to go by myself and even attend both classes!  So I did 2 hours of Zumba and burned 900 calories!!!  Now that felt great!  There were 100 ladies combined between the two classes and only one tiny window air conditioner, it was hot to say the least!  I’m hoping to make it to class on Thursday but will only be able to do the 6pm class.

Thank GOD!!!  I am sure that this “bug” or whatever I have is also helping.  The last two nights I’ve been constantly in the bathroom.  TMI?  But I know that the increased activity helped the most.  I just hope that the numbers keep going down and I can get out and say out of the 220’s!!!

Changing it up

I went to Zumba three times this week.  I went on Monday for 15 min, big deal.  Then on Tuesday and today I joined my mom and Natosha at their class.  I was also going to try to get a run in yesterday but wasn’t feeling too well.  Anyway, I love their class much more than mine.  I was sore up until today from Tuesday’s class which tells me it’s working!  Tonight after I got home I could feel my abs burning, good sign.  I’m hoping it will pay off on the scale tomorrow.  I’m tired of being at 222 and want to show a freaking LOSS this week, not a gain!

Felt good

I woke up with a horrible migraine this morning and was CRABBY!  We spent a few hours at a friend’s house for a playdate and all the kids played well.  Instead of working out I completed a sewing order for a lady in Seattle so I missed my workout. I asked Zack if he wanted to go to the Y so I could do Zumba.  He told me no because he didn’t want Ryan to cry.  Ha!  So I called my niece to see if she’d be willing to watch the boys while I joined my mom at her Zumba class.  She agreed and so off we went.  They all played in the hallway while I was able to complete the entire hour workout!  It was sooo nice! I got all my steps in and hit my 3000 calories burned goal.  It felt good!

I still like my mom’s class better than mine.  I can feel the burn in my legs already where as with mine, I don’t.  I love the squats!  I’m debating on cancelling my Y membership and just spending the extra money to drive to the Valley for that class.  Although, with winter coming and my fear of driving in bad weather maybe I’ll wait until Spring?

Oh… and my arms were a bit sore this morning from workout with hand weights while on the treadmill yesterday.  Awesome!

Checking in

Well, I’m not back at it like I’d hoped.  I got on the treadmill while Jim was home and made it to Zumba last week but that was about it.  Sarah is kicking my butt in the Holiday Hustle.  Good work Sarah!!  I tried to do the morning Zumba class at the Y but 15 min into it they came and got me because Ryan wouldn’t stop crying.  Grr.  I know I have to keep going to get him used to it but it kills me.  So I plan to get on the treadmill here in a few minutes before he wakes up from his nap. 

Lately I’ve been feeling extremely tired.  Seems like it seems to come and go.  The other day while Jim was home I took a 2 hour nap then yesterday took another one.  I feel as though I could take another one right now.  So I think I’ll hop on the treadmill before I put it off any longer.


I started to get a headache right after posting this and debated on even doing a workout.  But I decided I better and got in almost 45 min on the treadmill.  It felt great.  I didn’t stick to a certain plan.  I got on barefoot!  I started at a fast walk, jogged some, walked some more, jogged and walked with my 2 lb hand weights and then ran for the last bit.  It felt great.

Back at it

I was able to finally get on the treadmill and get a 40 min workout in.  My ankle feels better and didn’t hurt once while I was running.  The only time it hurts is when I turn it left or right.  I didn’t really want to do it once I was on there but ended up pushing through and running the whole 30 min.  Feels good to get back to working out.  Jim is going to watch the game with his uncles tomorrow so I’m going to try and get in another run.

Small break

I had to take a small break in my exercise routine.  On Saturday  after my race I rolled my right ankle and skinned my left knee.  My ankle was swollen about 3 times it’s normal size and I can barely bend my left knee.  It’s starting to feel better now and I can walk without limping.  But I had to take a small break in my exercise routine.  I’m hoping to get back on track soon, darn holidays!  I better get back on track…I’ve got an activity challenge to try and win!  Winking smile

I received a card in the mail the other day from my bestie, Sarah.  I wasn’t expecting anything so I was eager to open it.  I was shocked and humbled to find this adorable necklace!  She kindly sent me a runner necklace and a sweet card letting me know how proud of me she was for running my first 5k.  I thought it was incredibly sweet and it brought tears to my eyes!  Thank you so much Sarah, you made my week!!!  I’m blessed to have you in my life.

First week on the bugg

So I’ve used the bodybugg for over a week now.  So far I love it!  I love all of the charts and graphs too.  I gained this past week and I’m thinking it’s because of Shark Week.  I didn’t log my food consumption everyday but was aware of it.  According to the chart, I should’ve lost almost a pound, not gain over a pound.  Hmm…


So this week I’m going to try to log my food more and since it’s not Shark Week, I’m hoping that will show a loss.

I haven’t been sleeping with it on.  Those of you that have one, do you sleep with it?  When I wake up and put it on it usually shows 600 calories burned or so.  I can’t imagine I burn that many at night after I download my info, just sitting in my chair on my computer.  Any thoughts?!

Jingle Bell Run 5k

I am home from my girls weekend in Sandpoint.  We had a great time!!

When I woke up yesterday morning I was starting to regret signing up for this to be my first 5k to run.  We had got several inches of snow and there was a lot of ice on the ground! 
I wasn’t sure what to wear so I wore a tank top, long sleeved sport tech shirt and then a 1/4 zip fleece sweatshirt from Goodwill.  I bought the sweatshirt just for the event, so that if I got too hot I could take it off and leave it on the track. 
When I got in the car the temp was 22 degrees!  It was COLD!  I followed my friend Lyndsey down there and then met up with my other friend, Jodie.  Jodie was also running her first 5k so we met up for moral support.  I’ll admit when I was walking to meet her I thought about turning around and not doing it, nobody would know.  But instead I kept walking.
Thankfully Jodie brought an extra pair of Yak Trax for me.  I was very nervous about running on the snow and ice and this calmed my fears.  They ended up being a huge life saver!
There were tons of people down there.  We got in line towards the back and after they said go it took us a few minutest to pass the start line. 
Jodie and I started together and jogged next to one another for about a half mile.  We had to weave in and out of people which was a bit frustrating.  Eventually I ended up jogging ahead of her.
The one and only sign that I saw on the run was the 2km sign.  When I saw it I was quite disappointed.  I thought for sure I had been jogging for longer than that.  So not much after that sign it got really crowded and the trail narrowed.  I had no where to go so I had to stop running and do a fast walk until it was clear again.  I actually needed that minute or less to reenergize.  There were quite a few small hills along the course and I walked up one of them.  I walked a total of 3 times for about a minute each time.  I was a little disappointed for walking at first but am now ok with it.  About a mile from the finish line I started getting hot.  I had already pinned my number to my sweatshirt so I didn’t want to ditch it and mess with the pins.  So I just tied it around my waist and it wasn’t bad at all.
I crossed the finish line at 43:45.  I was hoping to finish under 45 min so I was pleased with my time!  I waited at the finish line because I knew Jodie wasn’t too far behind me.  I cheered her on as she crossed.  We had someone take our picture with her phone since mine was dying and I didn’t take a camera.  Once I get the pic, I’ll add it. 
I was so proud of myself for sticking with it and accomplishing my goal, through snow, ice and below freezing temps!  Adrenaline and the other runners definitely kept me going through some of it.  It feels good to say that I’ve run a 5k (even though I walked a few min). 
My muscles are a little sore today but not as bad as I was expecting.  According to my bodybugg, I burned 796 calories during the race.  Not too bad!  I wore my bugg until about 4pm and then took it off since I was on "vacation".  For the entire day I burned exactly 3000 calories.  I love being able to see what I've done.
