Weekly weigh in

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 223.2
This Week: 222.2
Weekly Loss: – 1
Total Loss: –14.8

I liked the 221 from yesterday but I will take the loss today.  I get to have a Mommy Day today and I’m SO excited!  My husband set up a spa package for me at a nice spa here in town. Let the pampering begin!  Then I think I’ll do some shopping CHILDLESS and then have dinner and drinks with my mom.  Can’t wait!!

So close!

I weighed in this morning at 221.6!!  I’m hoping it sticks around until tomorrow.  Yesterday I did really good on food and today should be ok too.  I told Jim that I’m only 5.42 miles from my fitness goal for this month and his response was, “why don’t you go do it all at once?”  I’d love to walk 5+ miles at one time, without children, but I don’t see it happening.  So I told him I have to walk at least twice before Sunday and I’ll make it.  I’m determined now!!!  Maybe on my Mommy day tomorrow I’ll get in a good walk.

Freedom!

The hubs is home (yay!) so I got to go on a walk with my friend L, WITHOUT children!!!  We took the dog and off we went!  We were gone for almost an hour. An hour of just ADULT conversation.  It was heavenly!!!  On a side note, I jogged for almost a complete mile!  woot woot!

Walk with friends

We were able to meet up with our friends Lyndsey and Kyleigh today and get in a 2.54 mi walk.  I wanted to go more but they had to get back by a certain time.  No biggie though!  We enjoyed the company and the playdate afterwards!

As the boys and I were almost home I let Zack get out to burn off some much needed energy.

Jim comes home tomorrow and I’m not sure how much walking I’ll get in.  :/  I was really hoping to hit my walking goal this month but I don’t think that I will.  I think I’ll keep the same amount of miles for next month and just push harder.  I know that we’ll be going out to eat more than we do when he’s gone so I’m going to try my hardest to make smart choices.

I’m starting to get frustrated at my weight loss.  Yes,  I know that almost 14 lbs is an accomplishment and I’m grateful and thankful.  BUT it’s been 13 weeks!!!  I’ve walked 81 miles since I started this journey.  I’ve started to eat breakfast, ate healthier meals and increased my water intake.  I feel as though I should be losing more than what I am.  Any suggestions on how to step it up?

New dinner idea

I made this for dinner tonight.  It was delicious!

New weigh in day

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 226
This Week: 223.2
Weekly Loss: –2.8
Total Loss: –13.2

I am going to attempt to switch my weigh in day to Friday, which would be today!  I am happy to announce that I stepped on the scale and saw 223.2!!!!  It’s probably from sweating all the water weight away last night but I’ll take it! This could go two ways, help me in my weight loss journey or work against me.  I don’t want to abuse it and do bad on the weekends since I just weighed in on Friday.  I want to still feel accountable.  But I also want to have the option of making up for my mistakes if I do poorly on the weekends, which I don’t get with weigh ins on Tuesday.  We’ll see how it goes.  Ten more pounds until my next goal, seems so far away right now.

I found a new website with lighter recipes!  I’m looking forward to try out some of her skinny recipes.  I’m tired of the same old thing and frozen meals.  We’re headed to the store in a few to get some good foods in the house.

First ever Cherry Pickers Trot

We did it!  We completed our first ever Cherry Pickers’ Trot!

I brought Zack’s portable DVD player to entertain him.  Ryan usually just sits and enjoys the ride so I didn’t worry about him.  He was antsy and wanted out and fussed the first mile  or so.  I’m not sure how many people were there but there were A LOT!  Since we were walking and had a stroller we lined up in the back.

IMG_5330IMG_5338

There were people along the road to cheer us on.

IMG_5342

Yep, definitely not going the speed limit!

IMG_5343

I was right, there was 1 mile of down hill and then another mile of uphill.  The downhill was hard, surprisingly enough.  I had 65 lbs of dead weight in the stroller and it wanted to go down faster than me, much faster.  The uphill at the end wasn’t as bad as I expected.  There was a small hill less than a mile in that I wasn’t expecting.  Oh.my.goodness!!  I really thought I was going to pass out before getting to the top.  I had walked and jogged up until the hill and was trying to go my normal pace up it.  Wrong idea!  Remember those 65 lbs that I was talking about?  Ya, they are tough to push going up a good size incline.  Oh and not fun either!  So I slowed down and let others go around me because there was no way in hell I was going to pass out on the course!

(somehow missed mile one)

IMG_5347

We stopped after the 2 mi mark because we had to use the restroom.  There was a bit of a wait which slowed us down but it was nice to catch my breath!  Zack walked up part of the last hill and even pushed Ryan for a few minutes.

IMG_5355IMG_5360IMG_5364IMG_5370IMG_5373

Before we knew it we were at the end!  I really didn’t care about our time, I was just glad to have accomplished it.  Maybe next year I’ll beat it!  (I say I because I will be doing it alone, no stroller pushing!!)  Smile

We didn’t get home until 9:30pm, I am one tired Momma!  My legs are pretty sore, I can only imagine how they’ll feel tomorrow.  What a great workout!  Sure felt like I burned more than 317 calories though.  Winking smile

Wish us luck

I didn’t get a walk or work out in yesterday.  It was way too busy for a walk and then we didn’t get home until 9:30pm and once I got both boys in bed it was 10pm.  I was exhausted so I sat my fat butt on the chair, surfed the net and dozed in and out before I went to bed.

We have our 4 mile walk tonight and as of right now it’s raining.  If I didn’t pay and register for the race I’d back out.  But we’ll be going and walking, rain or shine.  BUT cross your fingers for NO rain!!!!  I’ll update you all on how it went when I get home.  Smile

*eek, I just mapped the walk and it shows a gain of 249 ft throughout the walk.  It looks like it’s all down hill for a mile or so and then all uphill the last mile! I’m a bit nervous.  I better lose next week!!!

Good news

I stepped on the scale this morning and saw 225.  Phew!  I’m thinking maybe my gain was water weight but who knows.  I feel better about this number and hopefully next week’s numbers will be even lower.  I’ve got a ways to go before my next goal and I SO need a facial!!!

On another note, today is a BUSY day for me.  My MIL will be here shortly to watch Ryan for a bit.  I have to drop Zack off at VBS and rush over to the doctor.  I’m having a physical done and sadly enough, I’m kinda looking forward to it.  I want to make sure I’m as healthy as I can be (aside from being overweight).  Then I might try to swing by the library before heading home.  Then a friend is going to drop her 16 month old off for a few hours.  After naptime we’re headed to the Valley for my niece Maddie’s birthday party.  I don’t think I’ll be able to get a workout in but if I’m not overly exhausted I might try to do the shred when I get home, we’ll see though.

Not giving up

This week just confirms that the body is very mysterious.  I was honestly surprised when I stepped on the scale this morning and super disappointed.  I kept weighing myself throughout the morning hoping that the scale would say a smaller number.  It bothered me most of the day but I didn’t let it ruin it.  I have noticed that my legs don’t feel as dimply and maybe a bit more toned.  I didn’t take my measurements when I started this journey and I wish that I had because I’m sure I’ve lost inches and those don’t show on the scale.

We got rained out of our park playdate this morning and I thought I wasn’t going to get a walk in.  However, the weather got nicer and we headed out after dinner.  Today didn’t even reach 70 degrees (so strange since the rest of the country is melting) so it was a nice cool walk.  We created a new route which was a nice change.

I’m not giving up, I can’t.  I want this SO bad, so I will keep going but may need to do some tweaking.  Thank you for all the encouraging comments and welcome Flabulously!

Morning walk

We walked Zack to VBS and came back for “the cinder block” (I really should give it a name) and then headed out for our morning walk.  I took a different route half way through our walk to get in a good hike up a nearby road.  holy smokes, I was huffing and puffing when we got to the top.  It’s already 72 degrees and the sun is shining so I was one sweaty Momma.  Going to pick Zack up and then head to the in laws house so Zack can play with his cousins.  I might do another walk tonight, we’ll see.

image

Not sure why my avg pace is slower?  *Found a calorie burner calculator on Map My Run, thanks Sarah!*

Grr

I stepped on the scale just to see what it said this morning.  227?!  I gained those 2.2 lbs back?!  I don’t get it!  I have ate better, aside from the Chinese food, since Jim’s been gone and got plenty of water in.  I’m hoping it’s just water weight and tomorrow will be better!

Zack starts VBS at his preschool today to I’m going to walk him there and then go for a walk with Ryan.  Then hopefully I’ll get another one in tonight, shooting for 4 miles today.  I MUST get this weight off!!!

Or not

I convinced myself to get a 2.6 mile walk in after all.  I gave Ryan a bath then loaded him, the dog and the cinder block up (ha).  We headed out our normal way and then I decided to change it up a bit.  A little after a mile into the walk, the little guy got sleepy, as it was approaching bedtime, and fell asleep.  It was a nice peaceful walk and I’m glad I got off my lazy butt and did it.

I sure wish I knew how to calculate how many calories I burned.  anyone have any suggestions?

Oh!  And my new fitness kit came in the mail on Thursday.  LOVE it!!

Lazy

I have been extremely lazy today.  I took the boys to a fair and parade this morning, hung out at my parents house while dropping Zack off for the night (G&G took him to see Cars 2) and got a headache.  I laid down for about 45 min while Ryan napped (I think) and then didn’t feel like doing anything after that.  I had some Chinese food delivered because I didn’t feel like cooking and dining with Ryan isn’t always enjoyable.  You have to have a $15 min order to have it delivered so I ordered more with the intention of having several meals.  I had texted my girlfriend to see if she wanted to walk and then it looked like it was going to storm so we decided not to go.  Now it’s sunny!  I really should walk because of all the sodium I had for dinner but I’m feeling extremely lazy.  Sad smile

Scooters, fire trucks and fitness goal

I wasn’t really feeling it for a walk but got out there anyway.  Zack wanted to ride his new scooter that Grandma bought him.  He made it to the end of our street and wanted in the stroller.  LOL!  He looked pretty cute though.

image

Just about a mile into the walk he got bored and made phone calls to Daddy and Grandma and took pictures.

image

Then a few minutes later we spotted a fire truck and ambulance.  Exciting times!   They were bringing the stretcher out as we were walking by.  They had a gentleman on it but he was sitting up and seemed to be ok.

image

Zack decided that he wanted to ride his scooter again as we were getting near our home.  So we headed to the park and walked around the park a bit before heading home.

We did 2.57 mi in 40 min which was ok but I didn’t feel like I overexerted myself and there was no jogging.  My legs are a little sore today from the shred and I think the walk helped.

We’re half way through the month and I have 28.36 miles to go to reach my fitness goal for the month.  And in all reality I only have 11 days before Jim comes home.  SO, I have 11 days to get in more than 28 miles which would me over 2 miles everyday.  I’m not sure that I’ll be able to do it but I’m going to try my hardest!!

Cherry Pickers’ Trot

I signed up for my very first Cherry Pickers’ Trot on the 21st.  It’s a 4 mile run (I’ll be walking) through Green Bluff’s orchard country.  I’m hoping a friend will join me but if not, I’ll do it alone (with the boys).  I heard it’s a very hard course with lots of hills.  I’m nervous but at the same time very anxious to do it.  They also have a short tot trot for the kiddos that I might sign Zack up for.  Should be a good time!

Workout done

So I bit the bullet and did the 30.Day.Shred again today.  I can feel it in my legs so I’m sure I’ll be sore tomorrow and probably the next day (then let’s hope that’s it this time).  This time it seemed to go much faster, I’m guessing because I knew what was coming.  It still wasn’t simple.  Some of the cardio I didn’t finish out with her, even though she laid on the guilt.  The hardest part for me is all the bouncing is killer on my chest!  Hello nasty nursing boobs!  I’m thinking I need to get better sports bras.  I have never been good at push ups so I do the easy version which isn’t so easy.  Then there are the crunches, I always end up using my neck no matter how hard I try.  But it felt good to do it and hopefully it will get easier with time and I can move on to level 2?!

Feeling fat

Today I’m wearing a shirt that I didn’t feel comfortable wearing just a few months ago when I bought it.  I know I’m down 12 lbs but today I just feel FAT!  I ran into a friend today and she again complimented me on my weight loss but I still can’t help but feel fat.  I’m sure we all have those days.  I hate them!  I’m going to a concert in the park with some friends tonight so I won’t get a walk in.  We ran into G&G Stapleton in Walmart this afternoon and Zack went to stay the night with them.  So maybe while Ryan’s napping I’ll attempt the 30 day shred again?!  Wish me luck!

Activity Challenge part 1

I won the activity challenge that I participated in with my best friend, Sarah.  She kindly sent me my little reward, a gift card to Dutch Bros (my favorite coffee shop).  I was SO excited when I found this in the mail today, along with a little gift for Zack too.  Thanks so much Sarah!  But mostly, thank you for taking this journey with me!  Love ya!

Walking with friends

This evening we met with our friends Lyndsey and Kyleigh and did a 2.33 mile walk around the neighborhood.  We had my niece with me who walked the dog for us and it went much more smoothly.  It was hot out but with the company of our friends it made the walk go by so quickly.

Morning walk

I did over a 5K this morning and it felt great!  We have a wedding this afternoon so I knew I wouldn’t get an evening walk in.  So I mapped out a 3 mile route packed up the boys, jammies and all when we set out for a walk/jog.  After a quick potty break, thank you Shiloh Hills for the porta potty, I ended up finding a yard sale.

image

They had some cute girl stuff so I texted my girlfriend.  She had me go back to put an offer in on a kitchen set.  I wasn’t planning on the extra loop but it was nice.  I didn’t walk fast enough though, someone else got it before I got back there.  Oh well.

Now I’m starving!  Off to take a shower and get ready for our wedding this afternoon.

On the road again

I woke Ryan up early from his nap so that we could get to the bike store before they closed.  I was in and out in 5 minutes, so nice!  I gave in to a craving of Chinese food.  :/  By the time we got home it was later than we normally walk but I knew I had to get out there.  So we did!

We took the dog and Zack held on to her for most of the walk.  What a chore!  About a few blocks down the road I got smart and decided to just walk on the road instead of the sidewalk because Sadie had to stop every few steps to smell every other dog’s pee.  We jogged quite a bit which felt great.  She started out strong but by the end I was practically pulling her, lazy dog.  Not sure if we’ll take her again but overall I’m glad we did today.  The longer route I walked took us by some sketchy apartments and I felt somewhat safer having her with us, not that she’d do anything.  Winking smile

So, to hopefully make up for the poor choice in dinner foods I did a longer walk.  I was bummed when I got home and saw that it was just under 3 miles  Gah!  I debated on going father too but opted not to since we were approaching bedtime.  Oh well, next time.

image

Excited

My stroller doesn’t have a drink holder or a convenient place to hold my phone and/or keys.  It has pockets on the back of the seats but they’re so big that I have to DIG to get my keys or garage door opener.  I have attached some velrco to the stroller to hold my phone and it works for now.  But then I found THIS

I also hate that my legs and body are getting a work out but my arms are going to remain fat and flabby.  Not anymore!!!

I ordered it and it should arrive on Wednesday.  I can’t wait to try it out!!!

image

Stroller update: After Ryan’s nap we’re headed to the bike store to fix or replace the tire.  Then tonight we’ll head out for a walk, if we don’t get blown away first.  It’s a heck of a windy day here in the Pacific NW!

Back in the saddle

Jim left yesterday and we spent all day at the lake soaking up some sun.  (Man, I wish you could lose weight by getting fried.)  I didn’t do too bad with my food intake yesterday.  I did a much better job with it today and got more water in today as well.

I was anxious to get out for a walk tonight and planned on doing more than my normal 2.05 mi walk.  I feel lazy and can feel the 2 lbs that I gained the past week.  I hate this feeling!  So after a 2 hour nap this afternoon, I was reenergized and ready to get out and walk/jog.  I got almost a mile in and noticed that I had a flat tire.  I was bummed!  It turns out I went over a small shard of glass and it punctured the right back tire.  I had Zack hop out and switched Ryan to his side.  I debated on finishing our regular walk but decided to head home instead.  The rest of the walk home was spent asking Zack to keep up while I pushed the stroller with the flat tire raised in the air, like so…

imageimage

image

I’m still shooting for 45 miles for July and since I missed 5 days, I have a lot of catching up to do. I’m hoping to get to REI tomorrow to see how I get a patch kit or new tire.

It feels good to be back at it!

Weekly weigh in

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 224.8
This Week: 227
Weekly Loss: +2.2
Total Loss: –10

There goes my 5% goal.  :/  But I expected a gain and can only be upset with myself.  I did not try the past week at all, other than the family walk and hike.  Jim leaves bright and early tomorrow and unfortunately I’m looking forward to it.  Not so I can be without my husband but so that I can get back on track.  It is much more difficult when he’s home and we’re constantly on the GO.  So, here’s to getting back on track!!

Dreading it

I’m dreading my weigh in tomorrow!  I haven’t made the smartest food decisions and wasn’t able to get hardly any activity in.  And to top it all off my monthly visitor arrived, she’s nice like that.  So instead of skipping it all together, I’ll still weigh in but I’m warning you…it won’t be pretty!!

Little hike

We found an open house at a new development on Hayden lake while we were boating.  We ventured up a steep hill to the park above.  IMG_3857IMG_3861IMG_3863IMG_3867IMG_3868IMG_3873

After stopping by the waterfall we proceeded up the second hill.  It was quite the work out, walking on gravel, on a steep incline while in flip flops is not an easy task.  But it felt good.

IMG_3878IMG_3884IMG_3885

We took the tram down the first hill per Zack’s request and then hiked down the second.
