C25k w1d3

I didn't have any motivation since it was SO windy outside.  After dinner Zack begged to go on a walk/bike ride.  At first, I'll admit, I said no because it was 30 mph winds all day.  But then the guilt set in and we got ready for a walk/run/bike ride.  I got a sweatshirt and forgot to put my hair up...big mistake.  Hair down plus wind while running is not fun!  But we got out there and did it!  I'm glad we did too.  The second to last jog session was all uphill!!  I told myself I could make it for the whole minute uphill and I did!

We ended up doing over 2 miles total.  However, I'm about 3 min slower running with kids than without.  I'm not going for time or anything, I just found it interesting.  On to week 2!

I vow to never forget a hair tie again!

C25k w1d2...again

My back got better after a few days thankfully!  Phew!!!  So I've decided to skip Zum.ba for a while and stick to c25k again.  The weather is getting nicer and I'd much rather get outside than go to the hot gym.  I've also discovered that there are workout videos on On Demand so I'm going to try some of those!  I've previewed some and found a few that I like.

I officially started C25k last week but didn't get a full workout in.  Zack was on his bike and apparently his legs were tired so we had to turn back before it was finished.  I still got in 1.48 miles but I wanted to "officially" complete day 1.  Oh well, learning to be flexible.  ;)

So today I dropped off Zack and Ryan and I headed out since it is beautiful!!!!!  Ryan is starting to unbuckle when he wants but thankfully he waited until my cool down and I was able to complete the full workout.  I feel good for completing it and it feels good to get back to it.  I'm going to try to do one on Sunday when Jim's home since I won't be able to on Monday since Ellie will be here.

Almost half way through, loving the sun!

change it up

Well, I tried to change things up today and do the Z.umba class at the Y.  I felt pretty good doing it and was proud that I remembered some of the routines.  However, after class my back started getting stiff and achy.  I was having difficulty standing straight again   By lunchtime it was getting worse.  I iced it off and on and it's a little better but I can still feel it hurting.  I'm hoping that it doesn't do what it did in November.  We don't have insurance until May so I can't afford to go to PT right now!!!

Feeling discouraged

I have been focusing on my weight loss journey for almost 2 years now. I looked at these tickers and have got even more discouraged. I was down 16.4 lbs and have sadly gained most of them back! Ugh!!!!! I'm so tired of thinking about it or working on it an nothing happens.

Here are some goals I'll focus on:
1. start c25k again
2. limit my eating our
3. More water
4. Portion control!
5. Ad more veggies and fruits

Hope Run 5k

I was nervous for days leading up to the race.  My weather app kept saying that it was going to be cold and rainy.  So when I woke up and saw this, I was relieved!

Mom and Natosha picked me up and we headed to the course.  The sun was out but BRRRRR it was cold! The wind was blowing like crazy and 37*.  But...I was glad that there was no rain!  We were all freezing but really it wasn't bad.  Kids with cancer go through SO much more than what we did, so really it was the least I could do!

We met up with 5 other friends that came to support Team Zeke!  It felt so great to have all of these ladies in support of a good cause.  We used the restroom and lined up after taking a group photo.

The race was on the Children of the Sun trail.  I've been on it before but not where were.  I didn't realize how HILLY the course was.  Oh.my.goodness!  I ran with my friend Amber since we seemed to have the same pace.  We power walked most of the hills.  My legs were cold and not used to running in 3+ weeks!  Just before the turn around point there were some killer hills!  Going down was easy to run down but I could feel the burn walking up them!!!
going downhill

I couldn't capture how steep the hills were!
Go Stef!!!

Mom and Tosh

We finished in 44:20.  Not too shabby for not doing much before!  I was proud of the time.  Stef and Crystal were waiting for me at the finish line and kindly cheered me on.  I stuck around and waited for Mom and Tosh and then jetted over to Zack's first soccer game (which was adorable!).

Go Team Zeke!
I really liked the shirt!  Today was chilly so I had to wear another tech shirt underneath.

So then they posted that some of the early pictures were posted.  I checked them out and honestly was disgusted!  I texted my mom and asked if I honestly looked like that in person?!  I mean I know that I'm overweight but I do not feel like I look like this.  I know running pictures (we finished hard and actually ran that bit of the trail that you can see behind me) are not flattering and being next to Amber who is smaller than me isn't flattering either but come on!!!

I texted my BFF and told her that I need to do something more because these pictures are NOT ok!  She was kind and told me that I am doing something, I was running!  Thanks Sarah, you were right...thank you!

I am going to use these pictures as inspiration... I DO not want to look like this anymore!!!

Volunteering

So far this year I've stuck to my monthly 5k routine.  I was going to sign up for two this month because both causes are near and dear to my heart.  However, my MIL won't be in town for the Race for the Cure this year so my SIL decided to sign up to volunteer.  I'm kind of relieved because I will have the 5k on this Saturday and then the following week another one.  So this will be a nice way to still contribute to the cause without running/walking.  Saturday we'll be handing out shirts for the race and then Sunday we're  helping with the course.  I'm looking forward to it!

Back at it

Last week was Spring Break for Zack.  I had full intentions of making it to the gym, however we got too busy and I didn't make it at all...wishful thinking I guess!  My niece came and stayed with us for the week and it was SO nice to have her help!  We remained busy all week even thought I never got in a real workout.  She was a great help cleaning and getting ready for Ryan's party.

I weighed in on Friday at 234.2 lbs (-.4 lbs).  I have been making a very conscience effort at portion control and it's going pretty well.  We haven't went out to eat in quite some time which is huge for us!  I have ate a few fast foods here and there but not like normal.  Baby steps!

I have my Hope Run on Saturday and I want to get some exercises in before it so I'm not dying.  Yesterday evening was nice out so we walked to Michael's and Hobby Lobby to return some bday decorations that I didn't use.

Today I went back and forth on whether we should go to the gym.  I finally decided to just go!  I'm glad that I did!  I wanted to do the treadmill but they were all taken so I did 33 min on the elliptical.

I burned some extra calories practicing soccer with Zack!
