This and That

  • I'm not sure if I've mentioned it or not but I am no longer seeing my therapist.  She got a job elsewhere and our last day together was a week ago.  I'm nervous but have faith that all will be well.
  • I came across this while looking for Weight Watcher recipes.  It rings so true for me right now, and always.  I'm thankful for these positive affirmations!  http://livingachangedlife.blogspot.com/2012/03/nix-negative-talk-and-be-positive.html
  • Why am I looking for WW recipes you ask?  Well, I have decided to return!  It's been probably 9 years since I've been and it's time I go back.  I hate the size I am, I'm not happy this size and I know I am not supposed to be this size forever!  My friend Lyndsey and her mom go on Monday evenings and invited me to go with them.  I'm excited and ready!  Please follow me on my journey and feel free to encourage me.
  • I will be canceling my Y membership now that the weather is nicer out.  I'm not sure what I'll do this winter but I will make it a point to get exercise in.  I love the Y and all that it offers and so does Ryan. However, I need something more than just workouts at the Y.  I really wish I could afford more but I can't see spending that much on myself.
  • I was signed up for the Color Run on June 15th and was going to run with my friend Stef.  However, I recently realized that it is Father's Day weekend and we will be camping.  So I just registered for the Team Gleason Virtual 5k/10k/Half-Marathon .  I thought of doing one in Priest River but decided to spend a bit more on the registration fee and save the gas money and drive.  My SIL is going to do the half and spread it out over the 3 ideas.  I think for now I'll just stick to the 5k and see how it goes.
  • I'm also contemplating a squat challenge.  I saw two people on a facebook group that did a challenge and their back ends look amazing.  Anyone want to do it with me?!

C25k w2d2 done

I saw the forecast and decided to get out early and do my run.  The rest of the week is busy so I'm not sure if I'll get another one in.  :/  The weather was beautiful this morning.  It was a tough run though, my shins were tight and sore from Saturdays race still and my legs felt like lead.  But I got out there and finished!!

Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5k

The timing of this race was ironic!  Jim's Uncle Don lost his battle with his brain tumor on Tuesday.  I was more than honored to run this race for him!!!

Jim's sister wanted to do it with me but then after Don's passing decided to stay home with their mom and dad.  So I braved it and went alone.  This was my first 5k that I've done alone.  I kinda liked it that way.  I went my own pace and didn't worry about slowing anyone down.  But at the same time it's also kind of nice to have someone to chat with.

I did however run into a preschool mom friend, Abby.  Her and her husband were doing bike patrol for the race.  So good to see her and isn't she stinking cute?!

The first half mile was all down hill so I ran the entire way.  It was great...until I realized the rest of the way was pretty much up hill.

Here we go!

Some was a steep incline others weren't or were flat.

Beautiful views of the Spokane River

The course was some of the same as the Color Vibe I did last summer but only reverse.

Thank you security for your presence!

The course was at one of our local community colleges.  Aren't these houses/apartments cute?

at about 3 miles

I finished in 44:50 and was pretty proud!  I love the encouragement that Mapmyrun gave me.  :)  I also loved the finish line of this race.  People were standing there cheering everyone on which made me even run harder.  Loved the support!!

Finished!  (in the porta potty)
On my way home I refueled with a free coffee from Dutch Bros and then hit up a neighborhood yard sale.

I plan to make this race a yearly event in Don's honor.  I'm hoping to get more family involvement as well, we'll see though.

W2d1

It is beautiful here this week!!!

So Ryan and I headed out after dropping Zack off at school to start week 2.  It was a great run and I probably could've kept going.  I ended up doing just over 2 miles and was a bit faster than last time I took both boys, a lot less stop and go.  :)

Triathalon here I come!

My friend Lyndsey has done the WunderWoman Triathalon for two years in a row now.  She has asked me both times to do it with her but I chickened out.  I never think of myself as a good swimmer and swimming in a lake with hundreds of other women doesn't entice me at all!  Today she asked me if I would do the relay with her and I agreed!  Her mom is going to do the biking, she will do the swimming and I will do the running/walking.  The course is just under 3 miles, I think I can manage that!  It's an all women's event and I'm kinda looking forward to it!
