Evening Stroll

Zack went to G &G's house for the night and Ryan and I were bored.  I decided to go for a late walk.  I couldn't find Sadie's collar and leash and she was all excited to go so we borrowed the neighbor's leash and made it work.  It was a nice relaxing walk, Ryan did a great job!  About half way through the walk Ryan noticed I had water and entertained himself with it the rest of the way.  I thought he drank it all but come to find out he was wearing most of it!!!  I had planned on it being an easy walk since Sadie was already limping for some reason.  The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed the 2 mile walk!

There was no rain but it looked like a rainbow coming out out of the clouds.

I took the above picture and then looked down to find Sadie taking a break!

Weekly Weigh In

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 227.4
This Week: 221.2
Weekly Loss: -6.2
Total Loss: –15.8

Total inches lost: -7.75 inches

It's been one week since I started my 24 Day Challenge.  Seven days into the cleanse and only 3 more to go!  I'm back to taking the herbal cleanse drink and it's not so yummy!  But, I feel great and love seeing the results.  I've lost 6.2 lbs and 7.75 inches!  While laying in bed before getting up I noticed that my stomach felt flatter, not skinny by any means but flatter.  I feel a difference in the way my pants fit which is also nice.  It's nice to see results again.  I don't expect to see these results every week, that wouldn't be realistic or healthy but it is a very nice jump start.

Another new meal

Today was a bit more challenging.  I know I didn't get all of my snacks and meals in.  I had a hair appointment and went to a friend's house afterwards.  Before going to our friends we stopped at Trader.Joe's where I picked up a salad.  I thought there was way more salad in it than there was which was kind of a bummer!  I did good though and ate the salad without any dressing, in front of friends even though they didn't bring lunch.  ha!  On our way home it was my mid afternoon snack time and I didn't have anything and was hungry.  I snacked some when I got home though.  For dinner I made baked tilapia and much to my surprise Zack liked it and asked to share!  I felt bad that I had to turn him down because I only made enough for me.  :/  I also roasted fresh green beans (which I normally don't like because they taste too "green") like I did with the Brussels sprouts and asparagus and they were delicious!!  Another thumbs up for dinner.

Weekend wrap up

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.  Thank you to all of those that have served, are serving and will serve in the future!!!

This weekend was pretty low key for us.  Zack stayed at the in laws on Friday night with his cousins.  So on Saturday Ryan and I went out there to hang out and pick him up.  There was junk food everywhere and I really wanted some chips but I did good and resisted the temptation.  I took my own dinner and stuck to my foods (with one exception).  I was darn proud of myself!!!  The only mess up I had was that I tasted some of the popcorn that Uncle Danny made over the campfire, my curiosity got the best of me.

Saturday-
Zack wanted pancakes for breakfast so even thought I couldn't have any, I made him some.  Again, serious self control.  I love pancakes with PB and syrup!  Then for lunch he asked for bacon (he was killing me!), I cooked it for him and didn't have as much self control and had 2 slices.

I tried Brussels sprouts for the first time ever!  I was at the store and curious about how they'd taste.  I'm tired of the same old veggies so I'm trying to experience a bit more with new ones.  I found a recipe on Pinterest and tried it out for dinner.  It was super easy, good for you and yummy!!  I also found a recipe for shrimp on Pinterest that didn't involve tons of butter and tried it out too.  I used a little olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper and it tasted just like I sauteed it in butter!  I'll definitely be doing this dinner again!
I realized we were out of eggs.  I was itching to get out of the house and get some exercise so we walked to the grocery store.  Before our walk I drank one of my Spark energy drinks.  Love these things!!!  I also drink one in the morning instead of coffee, sometimes in the afternoon and before any workout.
Sunday-
While I was at the store last night I picked up some more Brussels sprouts as well as some asparagus.  I have never been a fan of asparagus until the last year when my dad BBQed them on his smoker.  I decided to give them a try tonight just like I did with the Brussels sprouts and they turned out delicious!!
Monday-
I was also able to attend my first Monday night Z.umba.  I was looking for a red tank top to wear because of Memorial Day but couldn't find one so I opted to make a tank top out of an old shirt.  (I got the idea from Pinterest.)  It turned out pretty cute and once I got the tie on the back in the right spot it worked perfect.

I had my Spark on the way in the car (picture taken by Zack, along with other random photos- lol) and was ready to go.  The class was very small but it was a lot of fun!!  They added a Monday class in addition to Tues and Thur.  Maddie agreed to watch the boys so I could attend the Mon and Thur class and she'll do the Tues class.  Awesome!

Day 4

Today is day 4 of the challenge, only 20 more to go!  ;)  I must tell you about my accomplishments.  The first three days were quite the test.  The cleanse itself isn't hard.  Like I mentioned before, you get to eat and every 2-3 hours at that.  They just have to be smaller meals totaling about 300 calories and include protein, healthy fats, fruits and veggies depending on what meal it is.  So the test...the first day of the cleanse (Wednesday) was my husband's nephew's birthday party at the pizza place.  I didn't have a single bite of pizza or breadsticks.  Well then before Z.umba on Thursday Zack asked for Taco Bell on our way so I went through the drive through and didn't order a single thing for myself nor did I have a single bite of their cheese rollups.  Then yesterday we went to McD's for an end of preschool celebration with friends.  I packed my own lunch and ate it while everyone else was eating McD's.  I know it may seem small but this is all HUGE for this fast food junkie!!!

Not much planned for this weekend.  We're going to the in laws today for a BBQ.  I know there will be tons of junk food.  So to resist temptation I'm going to pack healthy, clean foods.  If I can resist fast foods then I should be able to resist the crap food too, right?!

I also haven't had coffee in 4 days now.  This is huge too!  Yesterday the boys went to dinner with my in laws and I got to go to the chiropractor, fabric store and BabiesR.Us by myself.  (heavenly!)  My favorite coffee stand is between the doc and fabric store.  I used some serious self discipline to avoid turning in there.  The Spark drink really helps curb the coffee craving in the morning. All in all, it hasn't been bad!

24 Day Challenge begins!

My hubby left yesterday so today I started my Advo.care 24 Day Challenge.  I want to be skinnier and smoking hot when he comes back.  That's not too much to ask, right?!  :)  My Z.umba class is doing a Commit 2 Fit challenge which starts tomorrow and you can choose to use the products or not, I obviously chose to.  It's a 4 week challenge that will end on the first day of summer coincidentally.

The first 10 days are a cleanse to detox my body and reset my metabolism.  Unlike the last cleanse I did, I can actually eat!  heck yes!  I am eating 5 meals a day with a healthy balanced diet.  Days 11-24 are to fill in all the nutritional gaps and put my cravings to rest.  The program focuses on realistic food choices using supplements.

I took my measurements last night and weighed myself this morning.  My weigh in days will change to Wednesdays now.  (Apparently I can't make up my mind.)  Unfortunately it is also the start of Shark Week so the numbers on the scale were against me, as well as the fact that Jim's been home for 10 days.  I about cried when I saw 227.4 on the scale.  This challenge couldn't come at a better time!

I did pretty good today.  I didn't follow the plan perfectly but my efforts weren't too shabby!  I forgot about it and had 2 fruit snacks at Zack's preschool field trip.  Then after school we went to the store to stock up on healthy foods (and to get deodorant which I totally forgot!) and got the boys lunch at the deli.  I am not supposed to have fried foods during the 10 cleanse days and caved and had a handful of popcorn chicken.  We went to Jim's nephew's birthday party at a local pizza place.  The boys each had pizza and breadsticks and I did good and had a salad with very little oil and vinegar for dressing.  I was darn proud of myself!!!!  I was lacking protein though so when we stopped my my parent's house on our way home I had a small chicken breast.

I took before pictures which I may or may not show at the end of the challenge.  I'm anxious to see the results though.

Encouragement

Got this card in the mail from my Advo.care advisor.  Thanks so much, Jana!!!

Still here

I am still here, haven't gone anywhere.  The hubby is home and we are preparing to go camping.

I must brag for a moment though.  I told Jim not to get me anything for Mother's Day and I should've known better.  Well, last week I got an awesome gift card in the mail from him to...Spa Paradiso.  I had my spa day today and absolutely loved it!!!  Three and half hours of pampering is just what I needed!!!

I then met my mom and we saw The Lucky One.  I've been wanting to see the movie since I first saw the preview.  It was really good.  Although, I think Zac Effron maybe said 30 words in the whole movie.  A little strange.  It was still good though!

Then we had dinner at Applebees where we shared the 2 for $20 deal.  Yes, I had a beer with my dinner but I had the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp entree and it was only 740 calories, including the side.  I say only because that's not bad for a whole meal at a restaurant.

I ended the evening with Zumba.  We learned about our new Commit 2 Fit fitness challenge and I'm super excited!!!  More about it later!

It was a great day!!!

Bloomsday 2012

Bloomsday was a blast!  I am already looking forward to next year.

I met my friend Kristen at her house at 8am and we piled in her van and drove downtown.  But not before stopping at Star.bucks.  I didn't have time to eat breakfast so I got a breakfast sandwich and my regular nonfat caramel macchiato.
We got downtown, parked about a half mile away and met up with the rest of our group.

The amount of people was unreal!
People's throw away shirts in the trees.  I'm not sure who picks them up or where they go but I saw a bum walking around scoping out the goods.  Hopefully they will keep someone warm!

Waiting for the porta potty

Drag Queens!

Here we go!

They had 30+ bands along the way to keep us entertained.  These kids were pretty stinking good!

Gorgeous day!

The sea of people, it was insane!!!

Some of Spokane's finest

This group was hilarious!
We weaved and bobbed our way through people.  About this time we passed a 92 year old man walking it with his walker, amazing!!
Up our first hill

It was warm but I definitely didn't feel like I needed this.

This guy carried the flag the whole way, reminded me of my grandpa.

At mile 3 I thought I had a rock in my shoe.  When we stopped I realized there was no rock but a nice blister on the back of my foot.

Our view while waiting for the porta potty

Ahh, relief!  Also, like the new shoes?  They were awesome (aside from the blister)

Going down a hill to get to Doomsday Hill (pictured in the background)

interesting!

The start of Doomsday Hill

It wasn't as bad as everyone makes it seem

Ummm, the beer and hot dog afterwards!

almost there!

Superman even does Bloomsday!

I turned the corner and saw the finish line so I started jogging

This time is off, this is from the very start of the race.

Kristen and Erika

Finishers!

The Spokane Falls

I was really looking forward to seeing how many steps I took on my bodybugg but the dang thing didn't work!!!!!  I am SO mad!
Here is my official Bloomsday stats.  Don't mind the wrong name, I was filling in for a friend of a friend.
