Weekly weigh in

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 220.6
This Week: 220
Weekly Loss: –.6
Total Loss: –17

I totally forgot that today was Friday, I was thinking my weigh in day was tomorrow.  So I just weighed myself after having the salad bar at Chuck E Cheese.  I lost .6 which I’ll totally take!  I usually weigh myself in the morning without even haven eaten breakfast so this might be a little off (or one could hope).  A loss is a loss!

7 more pounds until I reach my next goal!  I’m hoping to do it by the end of the month.  Here’s to hoping!!

C25K W6D2

Well, my hopes of finishing W6D2 didn’t work out like I hoped while camping.  I woke up with a migraine and talked myself out of it.  On Tuesday was we rode our dirt bikes down the road I started freaking myself out.  What if I ran across a bear or moose?  We’ve seen both up there in the past.  I can jog but there is no WAY I would be able to outrun either of them.  So I waited until we got home and did it early this morning.  It felt good to get back into the swing of things.  But a 3 day break is way too much!  Since I’m 2 days behind I think I’ll do day 3 tomorrow morning.

Instructions

Brisk 5 minute warm-up walk, then jog 10 minutes, walk for 3 minutes and jog for 10 minutes.

    • Duration 00:33:00

C25K W6D1

I was able to do my walk/jog this morning right after walking Zack to school and without a stroller!  It felt GREAT!!!  I’m not sure if it was easier because I wasn’t pushing a stroller or since it was a breeze after Friday’s 20 min jog?!  Either way, I’ll take it!

Instructions

Brisk 5 minute warm-up walk, then jog 5 minutes, walk 3 minutes, jog 8 minutes, walk 3 minutes and jog 5 minutes. Finish with a 5 minute cool down.

  • Duration 00:34:00
  • Pace 00:14:43
  • Distance 2.31 mi
  • Calories 456 cal

Tomorrow we’re headed out to go camping until Thur.  I have written down my intervals for W6D2 and my cheat sheet is already in the trailer.  I plan on doing my jog first thing in the morning on the roads that go by our campsite.  Wish me luck!

Wild Moose Chase Trail Run: 10k

I completed my first 10k today.  We walked the entire way but we finished, in less than 2 hours even!

The race started at 10am and it was already WARM!  The first couple of miles were pretty much all up hill and pretty steep hills!  We talked a few times about just doing the 5k course, nobody would know, right?!  But once we stuck it out it got better.

The views were beautiful!  The entire walk was on the trails of Mt. Spokane and most were not “groomed” trails.

I missed the 1 mile marker but it was around this area.

We hit the 2 mile mark at about 38 min into the walk, not too bad.

IMG_8152IMG_8153IMG_8154IMG_8156IMG_8158IMG_8159

At mile 3 we got more into the woods and seemed to be the start of the down hill.  We ran into quite a bit of mud, which they warned us about.  This is where we realized that we had gained on the two people that were behind us because they were no where in sight now.

At mile four we felt like we were in the home stretch!

Mile 5…only one more to go!

IMG_8167IMG_8168IMG_8169IMG_8170

And there it was…mile 6!

IMG_8171

And before we knew it, we were crossing the finish line!  We finished in 1:57 (I believe).  We were not the last finishers in the 10k which made us feel a little better.  But for our first 10k, I think we did pretty good.

When I got back to my car I went to put my flip flops on and this is what I found!  My feet were so dirty, even with shoes and socks on and here’s why!

Thanks for doing this with me Lyndsey, I had a great time despite my sore muscles!!!  Not sure we’ll do it next year but it was a fun experience.

C25K Week 5: DONE!!!

I DID IT, I DID IT!!!!!!

It was tough, I won’t lie!  I don’t even remember how many times I looked at the clock.  But I remember telling myself at 12 min that I am over half way through.  I looked at it a few more times then I had two min, told myself I could do it.  Then it was less than a minute and I was almost DONE!  It really is amazing what you can do if you are focused and put your mind to it. My legs were pretty crampy afterwards, as well as my tummy.  Thought exercise was supposed to help with cramps?!  Sometimes I hate being a woman!  My legs now feel like jell-o but it feels great!  I am really wishing I had a rest day tomorrow but I’ll tackle that 10k and hopefully be thankful next Friday when I step on the scale.  Here’s to hoping, right?!

I was a sweaty mess and actually saw drips of sweat on my boobs.  The back of my neck was also sweaty, not sure if you can tell in the pics.  So see Sarah, I don’t always look so great when I get back.  Smile

Weekly weigh in

Starting Weight: 237
Last Week: 220.4
This Week: 220.6
Weekly Loss: +.2
Total Loss: –16.4

Phew, I was glad to see 220 again.  I weighed myself yesterday and saw 222 again and about screamed.  I am proud to only have gained .2 considering it is that TOM.  I also had THREE slices of pizza last night plus a breadstick.  Now I know it won’t reflect already on the scale but it feels like a heavier food to me than say, the salad I was going to have.

I have my 20 min jog today which I’m DREADING but I’m going to do it.  I’ll check back in if after I survive.

Then tomorrow is my 10K on the mountain.  My friend Lyndsey thinks it’s going to be a tough one since it’s on the trails of the mountain.  I’m nervous because of the unknown but I won’t have the boys so it will make almost anything possible.  Wish us luck!  Smile

Reward 5k?

My friend Chrissy (the half marathon runner) asked if I had signed up to run a 5k after my training is done.  I told her I hadn’t because I hadn’t found one yet.  But honestly, I’m scared.  Plain and simple.  But I also didn’t expect to be where I am today either.  SO…my training ends on Oct 21st and I think I will sign up for the Pumpkin Pacer on Oct 29th.  That will give me a week in between to give me some cushion in case I have to repeat a day or two.  It is a costume race and I’m kinda excited!!!  I haven’t decided if I want to do it with someone or by myself.  What if I don’t go the same speed as the other person?  What if I hold them back?

What if they hold me back? (ha!)  What do you prefer, to run by yourself or with someone else?

C25K W5D2

OMG, I did it!!!!  I freaking ran for 8 straight minutes, twice!  It is amazing what you can put your mind to.  My TOM has arrived (again, earlier than last month...I don't get it) and when I woke up I was crampy and just wanted to go back to bed (knew that wouldn't happen though).  I honestly was dreading the 8 min jogs but after dropping Z off at school I put my big girl panties on and laced up my shoes.  I HAD to do it.

I talked with a good friend on Monday who just ran a half marathon (that's 13 miles people!) in Chicago.  We talked a lot about running and doing the C25K.  I told her that my hardest part is getting the breathing down to where I feel like I'm completely wiped out.  She suggested slowing my breathing down and blowing out like I'm blowing out a candle, only slowly.  It may sound funny to others while I'm jogging but it honestly helped!!  I wasn't all red faced and wiped out when I got home.  My legs were tight and sore but I felt like her breathing techniques really helped!  Thanks Chrissy!!

Ryan fell asleep again.  Love me a sleeping baby.  (Don't mind the messy living room.  It's a struggle to get everyone dressed and out on time, let alone pick up the hose with a tornado toddler.)  I wasn't nearly as red faced this time.

I'm still nervous as hell for a 20 min run on Friday!

Sore legs

Today was supposed to be a day of rest.  I decided not to go out with friends last night so that I could go to Zumba tonight with a few other friends.  I am starting to like the Tues night instructor, Lisa a little more each class.  She added some new songs in there which threw me off but it was good.  My legs are super sore but it feels good.

I just looked at my C25K tomorrow and realized it's a little different than yesterday's.  Tomorrow is two EIGHT minute jogs!!!  I don't feel like I'm ready to move up yet, so we'll see how it goes.  Whoa, and just looked at Friday...I jump from 8 min jogs to one 20 min jog?!  WTH!??!?!?  I think I might be repeating week 5, I just don't have enough confidence in myself.  We shall see, wish me luck!  Eeek!

Help

This blog is public but I have not given the site out to any friends or family.  Not that I don't think that they'd be supportive but I just don't want them knowing my current weight and struggles.  Silly?  Yes, probably!  I have my personal one private as well as the one for my boys.  The one I have for my sewing stuff is public and it is the one that shows in my profile.  When I added this blog I made it so that it doesn't show on my profile.  Which means when I leave a comment on other blogs it only shows my kraft site.  I want to be able to comment on other weight loss blogs and have them see my WL blog as well.  Does that make sense?  Anyone have any idea how to do that?

C25K W5D1

Oh.my.goodness, this workout was killer!!!  Each run I looked at my watch at exactly 2.5 min.  But that actually helped me in a way because I knew I was half way done.  My legs ached a lot more today and I felt all three jogs were harder.  I'm not sure if it's because of my activity over the weekend where I didn't get my days of rest or what.  Phew!  I'm glad to have finished this and feel proud too!

Ryan fell asleep again on the way.  Does anyone else's eyes water while working out?

Weekend wrap up

This weekend was good and I am exhausted!!!

Heart Walk 2011

I had a great birthday on Saturday!  I'd love to say that it was one of the best but it wasn't fully complete because my husband wasn't home.  We started the day off with the Heart Walk.  There were less people than in years past and I'm pretty sure they shortened the route.  I mapped it and came up with 2.42 miles.  But overall it was a good walk.  It wasn't always fast paced and my mom pushed the stroller most of the time but it was still nice to get out and stretch  my legs.  Speaking of legs, my mom is only 4'11" and that woman can move!!  There were a few times where we wanted to pass people so she'd kick it into high gear and I had a hard time keeping up!  I SO hope I'm like that at 56.  It started off chilly in the morning but was beautiful!  I love walking along the river.  Zack got out at one point and walked but it wasn't for long.

I'm not sure what this is called (other than the sun) but it was cool!

While my mom got her hair cut and colored the boys and I met my friend Kim and her son at a Mexican place for lunch.  I tried to be as good as I could and ordered a taco salad and hardly ate the shell.  Have I mentioned my struggle with eating out?  I try and want to be good but always struggle!  I felt good about my food choice.

My Dad came up later in the afternoon and we all went to dinner at a local Mongolian place that we like.  I'm not even sure what the points were but wasn't counting, took the day off for my birthday.  It was delicious though!

Then I had drinks with a good friend.  I was just going to stick to beer but made the mistake of trying her lemon drop martini and ended up having two of them.  Yummo!!!  It was so nice to get out and have a little me time.  Thanks Lynds!

This was an even earlier race and I was regretting it when I woke up.  Ryan slept HORRIBLY last night which mean this momma got no sleep.  So when I woke up and looked outside and saw dark clouds and a wet ground, I wanted to crawl back into bed.  But I didn't!  We got up and at 'em.  Again it was chilly but I was warm towards the end.  A couple of friends were there and it was nice to see them.  We were towards the back of the line but definitely not the last.  We had many stops along the way to fix the blanket, recover the binky, settle fights, etc but made it in 1:02 (I believe).  It sure seemed longer to me than a 5k and when I mapped it out, it was 3.29 mi.  I loved that we were walking in memory of my grandpa and raising awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I start week 5 of C25k tomorrow.  It is three 5 min jogs!  I'm nervous as hell but anxious and excited at the same time.  Wish me luck!

C25K Week 4:DONE!

I did it, I completed week 4!  I somehow was about 30 sec off (faster) than the last two days which kind of threw me off.  The last 5 min jog was rough for some reason and I'm a bit nervous to move on to week 5.  But I know I can do it.
