Size 3

On Friday I went to the mall to pick up a few things while my mom stayed here with the boys.  She asked me if I'd pick up a pair of jeans for her.  I chuckled.  You see, my mom is maybe 110 lbs and wears a size 3.  Desperate to get out by myself, I agreed.

I found her pair of jeans and went to the register.  The tiny Asian lady was on the phone and I handed her the jeans.  She looked up, phone still on her shoulder and said, "size 3?  size 3?!" with a puzzled look on her face.  I told her that they weren't for me.  She got off the phone and rang up the jeans.  As she handed me the receipt she then asked, "they for your daughter?"  I didn't expect that one.  I replied with, "no, they're for my MOM.  Not really fair is it?!"  (Not that she'd get it because she was also probably a size 3.)  She then said something that I couldn't understand and explained their return policy.

I knew it was coming, I told my mom before going that it wouldn't look right.  I wasn't offended but I thought it was pretty brave on her part and got a chuckle out of it when I told my mom when I got home.

  1. WoW she was brave a lot of people would have reacted differently than you did to that situation.

  2. That is one of my biggest pet peeves -- when the cashier comments on what I am buying. Just ring it up and move on. I HATE it when I am buying things at the grocery store and the cashier says "having tacos for dinner, huh?" Or once when I was buying some, ahem, stool softener at Walgreens and the gal told me all about her own bowel issues. Oy!

    And...those darn Asians. Urgh. =)
